ACTIVITIES & GUIDED TOURS

The activity most loved by those who visit our area is undoubtedly trekking. The trail network of the Cinque Terre National Park is vast and ranges from the stretches closest to the sea to those that run along the ridge at about 700m above sea level. Real mountain paths, with steep ascents and demanding descents, which can be difficult for less expert walkers, but which, with good footwear and due caution, most people in good physical shape will be able to tackle, enjoying the splendid panoramas offered by these paths overlooking the sea. The August 10th we celebrate San Lorenzo, patron saint of Manarola, to which the is entitled the 14th century church located in the upper part of the village. After the religious function, the statue of the Saint is carried in procession along the main street of the village up to the sea, where it is placed on a boat and transported for a short distance, to invoke protection and good luck even from the sea. Upon completion, the Manarola marina is illuminated by a fireworks display which closes the celebrations (the fireworks could be canceled in case of high risk of fire in the area).
During the day, are expected
craft markets and events as a corollary.

"In the 1961 when my father, on his deathbed, asked me to restore a cross that once stood at the top of the family hill”, said Mario Andreoli (1928-2022) “Once the cross was fixed, I had the idea of illuminating it and I haven't stopped since that day.” Using iron and recycled materials of all kinds, Mario began to give life to the characters of the nativity, nowadays considered a collective asset of the Manarola community and of the entire Cinque Terre. To carry on the tradition of the luminous nativity was create the Presepe di Manarola Mario Andreoli Association, who takes care
to set up the light show, which is lit on
December 8th.

In the 1973 was created the Cooperative of winegrowers of the Cinque Terre. In just a few years, its purpose has gone from simply giving a voice to its members to promoting local viticulture, an activity that guarantees the protection and conservation of biodiversity in an area that is as extraordinary as it is delicate. Among the merits of the cooperative are: having stopped the abandonment of the territory, the enhancement of heroic viticulture, the growing international popularity of the brand and the protection of “Cinque Terre” and “Cinque Terre Sciacchetrà” controlled denomination of origin, officially recognized and appreciated all over the world.
